The intense character of the study in the medical university, a significant amount of visual activity, computer usage, reducing the duration of sleep and lack of time – all these factors contribute to the development of refractive anomalies in students. Significant strain falls on eyesight, his muscular system and accommodation especially due to the large number of learning material. Last years, because to the widespread computer usage in education and everyday communication, it is still an increasing. In the 4th year students learn ophthalmology and during classes conducted mutual inspection – examination of visual function at each other, which allowed us to track changes in refraction between 1 and 4 course. The paper presents the results of the examination of 387 students aged 20 – 28 years. The most common refraction in the number of examined students was the low degree of myopia (in 162 people – 42% of patients) and the medium (in 3 people – 0. 8% of the patients). Note that only in 43 students (11%) were found breach of refraction at the time of admission to the university. The 8 of the surveyed (2% of surveyed students) revealed the low degree of hyperopia while only 2 of them were known about this before. Mixed astigmatism was found in 2 students (0,5%), but cause the lack of an optimal correction in one of them developed medium scale amblyopia, the second uses field-cylindrical correction since childhood, giving him sufficient correction. We found that 32% of students were nearsighted on average 1,62 ±0,4 diopters, the average not corrected visual acuity 0,2 ±0,02. Students with refractive anomalies prefered contact correction. So 73% of them have experience of wearing contact lenses from 6 months to 5 years, where 57% of the students wearing lenses more than 3 years. Examined mainly prefered soft contact lenses (hydrogel used in 39% of cases, silicone hydrogel at 57%) and only 4% used rigid contact lenses. Unfortunately large percentage of students chose contact lenses without a doctor’s advice (53%). The survey found that 64% don’t keep up to pull-date, and more than 50% didn’t perform hygiene rules while wearing contact lenses, indicating a low level of knowledge and disregard for basic hygiene rules. Because of this, when biomicroscopy in 37% of the students found: signs of conjunctivitis, «dry eye» and allergic reactions. The vast majority – 68 of them were foreigners and foreign students in the average refractive anomalies was higher and amounted to 2,54 ±0,7 diopters with an average sharpness of 0,2 ±0,07. The reason for this was that foreign students have a significant visual stress in the study of language and computer to communicate with family and friends, needed to find educational material on the Internet because of the lack of textbooks in the native language. Finding existing refractive anomaly, we determined the optimal correction and formed the necessary hygienic mode of for students with refractive errors. It includes exercises for eye muscles and loading the optic distribution and compulsory break especially while working with the computer. Drug preparations for treating wasn’t used. After 5 months of training (before the end of the semester) visual functions was reaudited and values of refraction of students with identified refractive anomalies. Note that the progression of myopia in the patients occurred. In those who adhered to the assigned treatment, there was improvement in visual activity without correction. On average visual activity without correction in the study group was 0,4 ±0,05, which is twice higher than initial visual acuity. Given the momentum, to all students were recommended intended correction and stick to the prescribed mode of visual stress and exercises. Found existing refractive error, we with other students of the group for learning practical skills identified the optimal correction and formed the necessary hygienic mode of for students with refractive anomalies. It includes exercises for eye muscles and distribution of visual load and mandatory break especially while working with the computer. Medicines weren’t used.
