Abstract: Background: Mutations in genes that encode Toll Like Receptors (TLRs) have been associated with increased or decreased susceptibility to various infectious diseases. ’ This study assesses the prevalence of TLR4 Asp299Gly polymorphism in the Poltava, i I Ukraine general population and in patients with common urogenital infections. Methods: T1_R4 Asp299Gly gene polymorphisms were determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using specific primers followed by oligonucleotide restriction i analysis. 299 healthy inhabitants of Poltava region of Ukraine and 156 patients with urogenital infections including Chlamydiosis (n=16). Ureaplasmosis (n=102). Mycoplasmosis (n=4). Gardnerellosis (n=9). Trichomoniasis (n=2). and having multiple urogenital infections (n^23) all diagnosed by PCR. were assessed for TLR4 gene polymorphisms.
