Disadvantages and Advantages of Implementing Distance Learning in Higher Institutions of Medical Education

Abstract

У статті розглянуто переваги та недоліки впровадження дистанційного навчання для навчання студентів-медиків в умовах карантину. Проаналізовано питання використання методів електронного навчання в дистанційному навчанні. Метою статті є з’ясування поняття дистанційного навчання, виявлення суттєвих відмінностей між поняттями «дистанційне навчання» та «електронне навчання», аналіз проблем і недосконалості цієї форми навчання та визначення доцільності його виконання. Проаналізовано сучасні педагогічні дослідження української та зарубіжної школи та наведено результати аналізу думок студентів і викладачів щодо впровадження дистанційного навчання в навчальний процес. Наведено результати впровадження дистанційної освіти в навчальний процес Української медичної стоматологічної академії з дисциплін «Медична фізика» та «Медична інформатика». Результати дослідження довели, що дистанційне навчання має лише теоретичні переваги. На практиці виникає багато проблем, які потребують вирішення.

The article considers the advantages and disadvantages of implementing distance learning for medical students’ training in quarantine. The issues of using e-learning methods in distance learning have been analyzed. The aim of the article is to clarify the concept of distance learning, to identify significant differences between the concepts of «distance learning» and «e-learning», to analyze the problems and imperfection of this form of studying and to determine the feasibility of its implementation. The article analyzes the modern pedagogical research of Ukrainian and foreign schools and presents the results of the analysis of students’ and teachers’ opinions on the introduction of distance learning in the educational process. The article also presents the results of an implementing distance education in the educational process of the Ukrainian Medical Stomatological Academy in the disciplines «Medical Physics» and «Medical Informatics». The result of the study proved that distance learning has only advantages theoretically. In practice, there are many problems that need to be solved.
