Влияние лекарственного препарата «Стоматофит» на активность лизоцима ротовой жидкости в ретенционный период ортодонтического лечения

Abstract

В ходе исследования оценивали активность лизоцима ротовой жидкости в ретенционный период до и после применения лекарственного препарата «Стоматофит». На основании полученных результатов установлено, что активность лизоцима ротовой жидкости в ретенционный период (продолжительность - 10-12 месяцев) снижается. Применение лекарственного препарата «Стоматофит» в течение 2-5 недель способствует повышению активности лизоцима ротовой жидкости во время ортодонтического лечения; Під час виконання даного дослідження проводили оцінку активності лізоциму ротової рідини у ретенційному періоді до и після застосування лікарського засобу «Стоматофіт». Застосування лікарського засобу «Стоматофіт» протягом 2-5 тижнів сприяє підвищенню активності лізоциму ротової рідини під час ортодонтичного лікування; The final stage of orthodontic treatment is the retention period when functional and structural state of teeth and jaws should regenerate after the active phase. Fixed retainers are additional objects, where a biofilm could be formed. Its composition can differ from the natural structures of the oral cavity and can serve as a permanent reservoir of pathogenic microorganisms. Numerous studies have shown that non-removable orthodontic appliances worsen an oral hygiene. Changing the balance between microflora and microorganisms can lead to the changes of local immunity of the oral cavity. Thus, one of the main ways to prevent infections and inflammation of the oral cavity is the use of medications increasing the local immunity, specifically lysozyme activity of saliva. As a factor of body's non-specific defense, lysozyme has bactericidal and bacteriostatic properties, it increases the activity of neutrophilic phagocytes and phagocytosis levels, and provides organism's tolerance to genetically foreign antigens. For the conditions described above, an important role in complex correction of microbiological status and the state of local immunity of the mouth is the use of complex medications with anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and immune-modulatory properties. Nowadays it is referable to combine a traditional therapy with the use of herbal medicines, because the nature of substances derived from plants is more compatible to human body than the nature of synthetic substances. It ensures their bioavailability. When consumed according to evidence-based regulations, herbs are safe for humans. They give mild prolonged effect, restore immunity, activate metabolism and, thus, provide natural health improvement. Data provided in scientific literature prove high efficacy of «Stomatofyt». The study evaluated the activity of lysozyme in saliva during the retention period before and after the use of «Stomatofyt» drug (PhytoPharm Klenka, Poland). «Stomatofyt» is 15 % extract of 7 different herbs. The product is standardized based on its content of essential oils, which determines its therapeutic efficacy. The study was conducted on 20 participants. They were divided into two groups. The main group consisted of 10 patients (aged 18-20), who received orthodontic treatment with fixed retainers for 10-12 months. They were using «Stomatofyt» as a mouth rinse 3-4 times per day. The control group consisted of 10 patients (aged 18-20), who didn't receive any orthodontic treatment but only were using «Stomatofyt» as a mouth rinse 3-4 times per day. Lyzosyme activity in saliva was determined according to V. G. Dorofeychuk's method (1968). Statistical analysis was performed by variation-statistical method, using Excel 2003. Reliability of the results was assessed with Student's criterion. According to the study results, the activity of lysozyme in saliva decreases during the retention period (10-12 months). The use of «Stomatofyt» for 2-5 weeks increases the activity of lysozyme in saliva during the orthodontic treatment.
