A Case of Bizarre Parosteal Osteochondromatous Proliferation (Nora’s Lesion): A Brief Description
(University of Niš, 2023) Fylenko, Borys; Roiko, Nataliia; Roiko, Andriy; Starchenko, Ivan; Kuvichka, Dmytro; Koka, Volodymyr;
Introduction. Nora’s lesion or bizarre parosteal osteochondromatous proliferation is a rare benign bone neoplasm that is usually localized on the small bones of the hands. The paper was aimed at clinical, morphological and structural analysis of Nora’s lesion case, the second registered in Ukraine. Case report. A 42-year-old male patient presented with complaints of painless swelling in the area of the distal 4th metacarpal bone and limited mobility of the ring finger. The diagnosis was based on a typical localization, combination of clinical, radiological, and histological methods; however, the right differential diagnosis was an important task in the present case, too. Conclusion. As there is still not enough data in the literature on this issue, further studies of Nora’s lesion etiology will improve its understanding, thus treatment modes and prevention of recurrence, too.

Hirshsprung's disease: pathomorphological diagnosis with clinical aspects
Although the clinical diagnosis or exclusion of Hirschsprung's disease is a frequent task in pediatric practice, the final diagnosis is based on the histopathological conclusion of a rectal biopsy. However, ancillary diagnostic tests such as acetylcholinesterase histochemistry or immunohistochemistry are extremely useful in some cases. The differential histological diagnosis of Hirschsprung's disease can be challenging, as other conditions can present with similar histological features. In this article, we consider the pathological features of Hirschsprung's disease, highlight the main pathohistological manifestations of this disease, as well as auxiliary methods of morphological diagnosis, which are important in solving particularly difficult cases of diagnostic search.

The case of leptospirosis in a female patient with Hodgkin’s lymphoma
Introduction. Although we could not find the registered cases of leptospirosis co-occurring with lymphogranulomatosis, it is important to note that both diseases can affect the immune system. Therefore, the reported case is unique and will be interesting and useful for the physicians of various specialties. Case report. We report a case of icterohemorrhagic form of leptospirosis with a fatal outcome in a woman with postmortem diagnosis of Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Based on the findings of the autopsy, histological and immunohistochemical studies, it was established that the deceased suffered from Hodgkin’s lymphoma during her life, classical form, reticular subtype with depletion of lymphoid tissue and extranodal spread in the liver, ovaries, and epicardium. Conclusion. The combination of leptospirosis and lymphogranulomatosis was characterized by the complication of the diagnostic process, which should be taken into account by physicians of all specialties. Uvod.

The influence of topical antioxidant use on hair regrowth and skin condition after chemical depilation
(Brazilian Society of Dermatology, 2025) Baliuk, Olena; Akimov, Oleh; Vazhnichaya, Elena; Kostenko, Vitalii; Starchenko, Ivan;
Introduction: Hair restoration treatments for alopecia using existing medications are not always effective, highlighting the need for new therapeutic options. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a topical gel containing ethyl-methyl-hydroxypyridine succinate (EMHPS) on hair regrowth and biochemical and histological skin parameters in animals following chemical depilation. Methods: Experiments were conducted on 50 adult male Wistar rats. Alopecia was induced using a commercial depilatory product containing potassium thioglycolate. A 5% EMHPS gel (125 mg/kg) was applied daily to the depilated skin. Trichoscopy, biochemical analysis, and histological examination of skin samples were performed on days 3, 9, and 21 of treatment. Results: The EMHPS gel demonstrated a tendency to accelerate hair regrowth, reduce lipid peroxidation, normalize antioxidant enzyme activity, and restore hydroxyproline and glycosaminoglycan levels in the treated skin compared to the untreated pathology control. Conclusions: The EMHPS gel primarily influences skin biochemical parameters and may be beneficial for treating forms of alopecia associated with oxidative stress.
