    Lectinochemical characteristics of rat normal masticatory oral mucosa

    Lectinochemical method of study has established the features of receptors’ allocation in the lectins’ panel on the cells and basal lamina of the epithelial mucous lamina of the alveolar gingiva and glandular area of the hard palate. It has been found that the level of lectin receptors’ expression in the gingival epithelium for galactose-specific lectins in the hard palate carbohydrate determinants is almost absent, though a layer of horny scales is the most sensitive. The largest number of receptors has been found for sialo-specific lectins. Higher degree of expression of carbohydrate determinants, especially for mannose- and sialo-specific lectins has been detected in the epithelial lamina of the hard palate, as compared with gums.

    Methacrylate-induced changes in metric parameters of rat palatine glands

    Application of removable acrylic dentures causes complaints of xerostomia, caused by the inadequate function of minor salivary glands. The paper was aimed to determine the dynamics of methacrylate-induced changes in metric parameters of terminal parts and ducts of rat palatine glands. The morphometric study has established that use of 1% methacrylic acid methyl ether solution to rats to reproduce experimental hypofunction of palatine salivary glands does not affect the parameter of lumen diameter of terminal parts, whereas other rates have shown a significant decrease in metric parameters ( outer diameter, height of epithelial cells and diameter of duct lumens) before the 30 day of the experiment, as compared to the rates in intact group of animals. The detected phenomena are caused by the direct irritative effect of 1% methacrylic acid methyl ether solution on mucosa of glandular area of rat hard palate, as well as inadequate mucosal blood supply, leading to terminal parts trophism and duct system of rat palatine glands impairments.

    Дослідження динаміки змін середньої кількості лейкоцитів і мастоцитів в складі власної пластинки ясен щурів при хронічній інтоксикації етанолом визначило активізацію гуморальної ланки імунної відповіді, що проявлялось збільшенням середньої кількості макрофагів і плазмоцитів протягом експерименту. Після збільшення на 5 і 9 добу середньої кількості лімфоцитів і мастоцитів відбувалось зменшення показників на 12 добу спостереження, що свідчить про перебудову захисного бар’єру. Поява на 9 добу і збільшення кількості нейтрофільних гранулоцитів більш ніж вдвічі протягом експерименту є морфологічним підтвердженням напруженості місцевого імунітету; Исследование динамики изменений среднего количества лейкоцитов и тучных клеток в составе собственной пластинки десен крыс при хронической интоксикации этанолом определило активизацию гуморального звена иммунного ответа, что проявлялось увеличением среднего количества макрофагов и плазмоцитов течение эксперимента. После увеличения на 5 - 9 сутки среднего количества лимфоцитов и тучных клеток происходило уменьшение показателей на 12 сутки наблюдения, что свидетельствует о перестройке защитного барьера. Появление на 9 сутки и увеличение количества нейтрофилов более чем вдвое в течение эксперимента является морфологическим подтверждением напряженности местного иммунитета; Study of the dynamics of the average number of white blood cells and mast cells in the lamina propria of gum composition of rats with chronic ethanol intoxication identified activation of humoral immune response, which manifested an increase in the average number of macrophages and plasma cells during the experiment. After an increase of 5 - 9 days the average number of lymphocytes and mast cells caused a decrease indicators on day 12 of observation, indicating that the rearrangement of the protective barrier. Appearance at day 9 and increase in the number of neutrophils more than twice during the experiment is a confirmation of morphological tension local immunity.
