It usually develops from well-differentiated tumors and presents as a rapidly growing neck mass, often leading to compressive symptoms. Diagnosis is typically via fine needle aspiration cytology. Treatment options include total thyroidectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, though these have not significantly reduced mortality, with choices varying based on tumor and patient characteristics.
