Understanding patient histories and symptoms with accuracy is a cornerstone of effective medical practice. The incorporation of digital tools, such as Virtual Patients (VPs), into the educational toolkit of medical students learning English is revolutionizing this aspect of medical training. VPs simulate real-life clinical scenarios, allowing students to practice and refine their listening skills in a controlled, yet realistic environment. Unlike standardized patients (SPs), which have been traditionally used but come with high time and resource costs, VPs offer a flexible and cost-effective alternative. This technological shift not only enhances students' ability to accurately comprehend patient histories and symptoms but also prepares them to navigate the complexities of patient communication with greater confidence.
