Комунікативні та соціально-рольові характеристики сучасного дискурсу стоматології

Abstract

У запропонованій роботі визначено основні комунікативні і соціально-рольові характеристики сучасного англомовного дискурсу стоматології (письмової його форми). За соціально-ситуативним параметром дискурс стоматології є інституційною моделлю спілкування, що відбиває складну систему ієрархії спеціальних знань медико-біологічного і технічного спрямування, реалізується в контексті охорони здоров’я та комунікативно спрямована на вироблення, збереження і поширення інформації про збереження здоров’я ротової порожнини; В предлагаемой работе определены основные коммуникативные и социально-ролевые характеристики современного англоязычного дискурса стоматологии (его письменной формы). Учитывая социально-ситуативный параметр, дискурс стоматологии можно определить как институциональную модель общения, которая отражает сложную систему иерархии специальных знаний медико-биологического и технического направления, реализуется в контексте здравоохранения и коммуникативно направлена на выработку, хранение и распространение информации о сохранении здоровья полости рта; This work describes the key communicative and social-role characteristics of the modern English discourse of dentistry (its written form). According to the social and situational parameter, the discourse of dentistry can be defined as an institutional model of communication that reflects a complex system of hierarchy of special knowledge mainly involving medical, biological and technical fields, and is implemented in the context of health care; its communicative purposes aim at the development, storage and dissemination of information on the oral health. Dentistry, which is known as a fundamental branch of medicine, possesses a particular set of basic values that largely influence and determine the communicative goals, the choice and relevance of linguistic means and rhetorical devices. Subjects of speech interaction in the professional discourse of dentistry are in status-role relationships, which can be symmetrical (specialists) and asymmetric (chief – subordinate, doctor - patient). Interaction within the model ‘Specialist-Specialist’ stipulates the equality in the process of implementing their status-role opportunities within the framework of the dentistry discourse. ‘Professionals – Lay persons’ type of the dentistry discourse is predetermined by asymmetry in relations between communicants. The analysis of the texts taken from occupational journals and documents demonstrates that the dentist acts as a communicative leader and moderator, whose overall communicative goal is to achieve compliance – the patient's readiness to follow doctor's recommendations. The analysis the corpus of the texts taken from the journals has revealed the tendency towards depersonalization of patients that can be explained by ethical standards and conventions, and dehumanization of patients who are mostly regarded as objects of medical research and practice. It has also been found out that ‘Professionals – Lay persons’ type of dentistry discourse is very sensitive to the influences of ethno-cultural and socio-cultural factors. Thus, the discourse of dentistry can be described as a complex communicative institutional creation and organization based on the achievements of many fundamental disciplines and designed to conceptualize, preserve and disseminate knowledge and skills aimed at providing oral health.
