Second-generation fluoroquinolones in the treatment of urogenital chlamydial infection

Abstract

Our study revealed high clinical efficacy of a second-generation fluoroquinolone drug (sparfloxacin) in the treatment of urogenital chlamydia in combination with cyclophosphine. Sparfloxacin is well tolerated by patients, does not cause general and local toxic and allergic reactions. It is convenient to use: it is prescribed regardless of food intake. We consider it promising to further study the effectiveness of fluoroquinolone antimicrobials in the treatment of other STIs.
